Why we started
Too many people buying property in Nairobi were deciding on a listing photo and a persuasive agent. The things that decide whether a purchase holds up, the price against what is selling nearby, the developer's record and the rent it will actually fetch, were rarely on the table.
So we built Shawa Consult around those things first. We follow prices and rents across Westlands and the neighbourhoods around it, we check the developer behind every development we sell, and we stay with each buyer from the first call to the day they collect their keys.
How buying with us works
Six stages, and what happens on each side of the table. Choose a stage to read it.
Step 1 of 6
A first conversation
- You
- Tell us what you are buying for, your budget, and the areas you would consider.
- Us
- We listen first. If what you want is not in what we sell, we say so.
Before we put our name to it
Every development we sell has been through these four questions first. These are the ones that passed.
- The developer
- What they have finished before, whether it was delivered on time, and how it has held up.
- The price
- How it compares, per square metre, with what is selling nearby.
- The payment plan
- How payments are tied to construction, and what a buyer is exposed to if it runs late.
- The rent
- Who rents in that street, what similar units let for, and how long they sit empty.
How we try to work
We tell you the numbers
Even when they say the property is not for you, and the right answer is to walk away.
No surprises in the price
The figures we show are the developer’s published prices. If a list has expired, we say so.
One person, start to finish
The consultant who takes your first call is the one who walks you through to handover.
Your lawyer, not ours
We encourage every buyer to have their own lawyer read the sale agreement before signing.
