Who we are

Shawa Consult is a property consultancy based in Westlands, Nairobi. We are responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us at [email protected] or on +254 715 157578.

What we collect

• When you send an enquiry: your name, email address, phone number (optional), what you are interested in, the development you asked about and your message.
• How you found us: if you arrive from an advert or a tracked link, we record the campaign details in that link (such as the source and campaign name, or a Google Ads click ID) and the page you sent your enquiry from, and store them with your enquiry.
• How the site is used: if we have analytics switched on, Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) records pages viewed and actions such as clicking to call, using cookies.

We do not ask for, and you should not send us, ID numbers, bank details or payment information through the website.

Why we use it

• To reply to your enquiry, arrange viewings and send you the information you asked for.
• To keep a record of our conversations with you so anyone on our team can pick them up.
• To understand which adverts and pages bring enquiries, so we can spend our marketing budget sensibly.

We rely on your consent, which you give when you tick the box on the contact form, and on our legitimate interest in running and improving our business. We will not add you to a mailing list or send you marketing you did not ask for.

Who we share it with

• The developer of a project you enquire about, only where needed to arrange a viewing, reservation or purchase you have asked us to help with.
• Service providers who host our website and systems and deliver our email, under terms that require them to protect your data.
• Authorities, where the law requires us to.

We do not sell personal data.

Third-party services on this site

Some pages show embedded Google Maps, and our WhatsApp links open WhatsApp. These services may set their own cookies or collect data under their own privacy policies (Google and Meta respectively). Conversations you start on WhatsApp are handled through WhatsApp.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for as long as we are in touch with you about a property, and for up to 24 months after our last contact, unless the law requires us to keep records longer (for example, records of a completed sale). After that we delete them.

How we protect it

Enquiries are stored in a password-protected system that only our team can access, and the website is served over an encrypted connection.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you have the right to:

• be told how your personal data is used, as this policy does;
• see the personal data we hold about you;
• have inaccurate data corrected;
• have your data deleted;
• object to us using it, and withdraw your consent at any time.

Email [email protected] and we will respond promptly. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.

Changes

If we change how we use personal data we will update this page and the date at the top. See also our Terms of Use.
